Carclew Youth Arts and Community Arts Network SA in association with the 2009 BigPond Adelaide Film Festival have joined forces to offer this exciting workshop.

Blast Theory is renowned internationally as one of the most adventurous artists' groups using interactive media, creating groundbreaking new forms of performance and interactive art that mixes audiences across the internet, live performance and digital broadcasting. Their work explores interactivity and the social and political aspects of technology. It confronts a media saturated world in which popular culture rules, using performance, installation, video, mobile and online technologies to ask questions about the ideologies present in the information that envelops us. The group makes collaborative, interdisciplinary work that is highly innovative in its process and execution. Innovation, risk and the development of communities through culture and technology is central to Blast Theory’s work. For more information about Blast Theory and their work see www.blasttheory.co.uk

Matt Adams will provide background and insight into Blast Theory's practice and methodology for developing works such as Can You See Me Now?, Day Of The Figurines and Rider Spoke. The workshop will provide an introduction for developing interactive works using location based and interactive technologies.

Workshop participant knowledge/skill level
The workshop is open to students, artists and emerging artists with some background knowledge in interactive and digital media, particularly with an interest in gaming, mobiles, location based media, performance, hybrid arts practice and interactivity.

It is highly recommended that workshop participants take part in Blast Theory’s RIDER SPOKE before doing the workshop (February 20, 21 & 22). For booking information visit the Adelaide Film Festival website:
